Join our family in celebrating a new birth – a little boy was born on 3rd January to Coralie and Jens. He arrived at 2.30am in a hospital in Frankfurt and returned home to the rest of us at 6.30am, just four hours later. Charles and I were woken to see this beautiful new baby, and then went back to sleep to be woken again at 7.30am to hear shouts of joy as the other five children discovered the new arrival. They were so excited – we had gone through so many days when the question uppermost in their conversations had been, “Do you think the baby will come today?” and the patient answer, “We don’t know - it could do.”
So you can imagine the joy to find Jaden had arrived in the middle of the night, and mum was back home before anyone woke! Isn’t the Lord good! Jaden means “the Lord heard” and so He did. Coralie had a quick and complication free birth, and was greatly helped by our prayers and the skills of a very kind and competent midwife, who had looked after her throughout the pregnancy and birth and will visit every day for the next week or so.
We are experiencing very cold weather, we have a white world outside, and are seeking to make ourselves useful with entertaining the five lively children; helping prepare food and keeping everything ticking over. We make sorties into the snow for shopping and fresh air. It’s fun to play on sledges and slide in the fields nearby, but good to return to a warm house and relax. School starts next week, so it will be back to a 6am start and the children ready to leave shortly after 7am, they then return at different intervals. It’s a very busy schedule when the school routine starts, so we are now enjoying the calm, before the storm!

Thanks Mum and Dad, for your great support! Your kind help and your extra hands on deck mean so much to us :-)
